Influence of characteristics of a silicone pad
Viscosity
The volumetric property of a liquid, quasi-liquid, or quasi-solid material that resists flow, that is, the internal friction or internal resistance of the molecules acting on external forces. Usually, viscosity is proportional to hardness.
Hardness
The ability of a material locally to resist hard material pressing into its surface is called hardness. Silicone rubber has a hardness range of 10 to 80 shao's, giving designers the freedom to choose the hardness they need to best achieve a specific function. Various intermediate hardness values can be achieved by mixing polymer substrates, fillers, and additives in different proportions. In the same way, the time and temperature of curing by heating can also change the hardness without damaging other physical features.
The tensile strength
Tensile strength is the force required per unit of range to cause a sample of rubber material to tear. The tensile strength range of thermally vulcanized solid silicone rubber is between 4.0-12.5MPa. The tensile strength range of Fluorosilicone rubber is between 8.7-12.1MPa.The tensile strength of liquid silicone rubber ranges from 3.6 to 11.0MPa.
Tear strength
Resistance to incise or notch enlargement when applying force to incised samples. Even after cutting and placed under extremely high torsional stress, thermal-sulfur solid silicone rubber can not be torn. Thermophilized solid silicon rubber tear strength ranges from 9 to 55 kN/m. The tear strength of Fluorosilicone rubber is between 17.5-46.4 kN / m. The tear strength of liquid silicone rubber ranges from 11.5 to 52 kN/m.
Elongation
This is usually referred to as the "ultimate breaking elongation" or the percentage increase in the length of a sample when it breaks relative to the original length. Thermosurfed solid silicone rubber generally has an elongation range of 90 to 1120%. Fluorosilicone rubber generally has an elongation between 159 and 699%. Liquid silicone rubber generally has an elongation of between 220 and 900 percent. Different processing methods and selection of hardener can greatly change the elongation. The elongation of silicone rubber has a lot to do with temperature.
Operating time
The operation time is calculated from the moment the vulcanizing agent is added to the colloid. There is no complete limit between this operation time and the later curing time. The reaction has been carried out since the moment when the curing agent was added to the colloid. This operation time means that the curing reaction of the product in 30 minutes can not affect the quality of the finished product. Therefore, the more time saved in the process of product operation, the better the finished product.
Curing time
Some places would say curing time. In other words, after this long period of time, the vulcanization reaction of the silica gel is basically over. This is basically over which means that the product is already available, but there's actually a very small amount of curing that's not over yet. So products made from silicone rubber, such as silicone molds, are usually left for a while before they are put into use.
