How to Use Copper Shielding Tape on Your Guitar

Jul 06, 2022

There are many different applications for copper shielding tape, but perhaps none are more popular than for the protection of plants and electronics. This conductive tape is often used in control cavities and pickguards and also for other applications, such as low-profile surface mount transmission lines in electronics. In addition to its many uses, copper foil shielding tape is a natural way to protect your plants and electronics.

Before you begin, you'll want to lay the copper tape inside the cavity. Lay the strips in overlapping rows. Then, use scissors to cut each strip to the desired length and width. Depending on the size of the cavity, you can run the tape along the lengthways of the cavity or the full width of the cavity (50mm).

To prevent EMI, you'll want to make sure that your guitar's electronics are shielded. Using copper shielding tape will reduce the noise and protect your guitar. This simple method does not require a lot of skill or cost. However, make sure the tape you use is made from a conductive material. Copper foil tape is more expensive than aluminum and may tear easily. Also, because it is made from copper, the tape may not be as effective at blocking interference as a grounded shield surrounding an electronic circuit.

Copper foil EMI shielding tapes are widely used for grounding, EMI shielding, and insulating cables. Copper foil EMI shielding tapes are available in a variety of colors and materials. There are tin-plated versions that are designed to be flame resistant. Copper shielding tapes also come in adhesive versions. If you're looking for a tape designed for high-voltage applications, Copper foil EMI shielding tape is an excellent choice.

Copper Shielding Tape is superior to aluminum foil and easier to use. and you can use it to line the pickup cavities and control cavities of guitars. Its high conductive property reduces EMI and hum and is suitable for a wide range of applications. Copper shielding tape can be used for many guitar applications, including electric and acoustic guitars.

Copper shielding tape also offers anti-static masking and EMI/RFI shielding. Copper foil tape is one of the most conductive magnetic materials available and effectively seals electrical components from outside environments. It also acts as an anti-static shield, grounding static charge that can interfere with the normal functioning of an electrical component. EMI/RFI shielding tape has an 80dB (three-eighths bandwidth) shielding capability, so it is a great choice for electronics and electronic equipment.
