PE Foam Tape Product Features and Functions

May 31, 2021

PE Foam Tape is an excellent product for sound insulation and thermal rating. Standard full coat with hot glue adhesive, excellent final and adhesion. Excellent rapid production possible, since no additional liner is required. High thermal resistance to moisture, combined with sound insulation qualities, also adds to its popularity.

The product features a one-sided self-adhesive backing. It can be used on both vertical and horizontal applications. In addition, it's available in various thicknesses, from one inch to two feet. This means it can be used in a wide range of applications, including flooring, ceiling joists, lintels, cleats, and ductwork.

Unlike other foam products, PE foam tape does not require any type of double-faced tape or peel-and-stick tape to bond the two sides of the tape together. In fact, it has two foil sides, so you have to choose the right side to use, or the wrong side to use as an edge. You won't find a sticky backside in this product either, so you won't need that tacky release liner stuff. No heat is required to apply the adhesive. Also, the product is easy to use, so even if you're not exactly an "electronics" person, you should be able to do this job.

It is ideal for doing either interior or exterior weathering or both because the seams stay open at all times. It is the best kind of weathering insulation available because it is completely waterproof, but it also provides excellent noise insulation properties. The polyethylene foam tape is open at three points: in the middle is a thin film of glue and adhesives that prevents gaps from forming; on both sides are carbon fiber microbeads that provide extra strength for added protection, and a thickener that helps to keep the open area closed. The tape itself is very thin, about one-eighth inch thick. It is available in four different widths, which correspond to its intended application.

Two of the most popular ways to apply the PE Foam Tape are roll and lock techniques. With roll application, you simply lay the sheet in a clean workspace and turn the tape's ends to push it to the edges, and then pull it taut. Roll application requires little work, but it is much more difficult to do and can give rise to uneven shrinkage if done incorrectly. When using a roll application, remember that you should always use a silicone lubricant between the tape's surface and the solvent acrylic adhesive. Without the lubricant, the tape can easily get stuck, causing a catastrophic reaction that leaves unsightly bubbles and lines in your finished project.

One of the more innovative and exciting features of the PE Foam Tape product structure is its one-sided self-adhesive capability. With this unique feature, you can use tape to seal the sides of items such as bottles, tubing, and containers without having to adhere them to the surface with a sticky backing like other self-adhesive products. This eliminates the need for double-sided tape and allows you to complete the tasks you are completing with less preparation time and mess.
