How Double-Sided Tissue Tape Is Useful

Aug 23, 2021

Double-Sided Tissue Tape is a popular packaging media for use in packaging products.  The film has been in use for decades and is known for its long-lasting quality and superior packaging properties. It can also be used for thermal and adhesive packaging. It is also versatile in applications where it is most commonly used, including corrugated cardboard, fiberglass, and strong wrapping. While there are several methods of packaging products using double-sided tape, some of the benefits of using this film are not generally appreciated by its users.

Unlike other tapes, Double-Sided Tissue film is created with a backing that rolls with the first layer of adhesive tape and the second layer of clear polyurethane laminate film. This second layer provides an extra layer of protection and stability against abrasion from moisture and abrasion from abrasive particles on the packaging surface. Because the backing and laminate layer are sewn together, it is virtually impossible to remove the tape or remove the adhesive backing. Thus, much of the durability of double-sided tape is owed to its adhesive strength and the film's ability to stay put.

This durability makes double-sided tape a popular packaging medium for food and medical products, especially where high quality and shelf-life are important. The film is particularly well suited for use in food packaging applications because of its moisture resistance, chemical resistance, and adhesive strength. Because of these factors, double-sided tape is often used for food packaging applications. The film has been available as a spray-coated package since the early 1970s. Though most double-sided tapes are coated, some are updated, and they are suitable for food and medical packaging.

There are several different types of double-sided tapes, depending on the application. These include paper tape, heat tape, Scotch guard tape, polyester-backed tape, fiberglass tape, double-sided adhesive tape, and double-sided tape stockings. Among these tapes, the polyester-coated tape is probably the most common and versatile, being available in a variety of color schemes, thicknesses, and types of adhesives.

Adhesive tapes provide a simple but effective packaging solution, especially for small items that would otherwise be difficult to package using other methods. In addition to its packaging benefit, the use of double-sided tape has a further advantage in that it allows for the quick transfer of a product between various different areas, including inside objects. This is particularly useful in food packaging, where different products may be held together by the adhesive. For example, it is common to see tissue tapes placed directly on food package edges to hold the packed fruit. This allows for the easy transfer of the fruit's rind, juice, or other liquid content while avoiding any potential damage to the packaging material.
